As webmaster and moderator of this newest message board on the internet. I like to say WELKCOME! This is where all things Lawrence Welk is discussed. Lets keep it friendly, pleasant and fun. No vulgar language or any of the bad stuff, we don't to scare anyone away. Now that's out of the way, remember to keep a song in your heart and keep talking until one's face turns blue as the sports jackets the band members wear!

Ok! This works! Anyway, I used to watch Lawerence Welk every Saturday night with my grandparents whenever I was staying with them. They loved him and his music and after supper, we would sit in the living room and not move while we watched. I loved the show and Norma Zimmer was my very favorite singer. My grandparents died in the early '70s and I could not bear to watch the show for years. I married and had kids and started watcheing episodes on PBS and now watch often. I read Normas book, and have it which inspired me. She wrote that her mother always had flowers on their table no matter how poor they were so I knew that when I got married, I would do the same thing. Its been 27 years and I still have flowers on my table most of the time. I wanted to be the same kind of mother to my kids that she wrote about. I was so sad to hear she passed away because I always meant to write her a letter and tell her how much I loved her book. In fact, I went to the library and asked for her address and they couldn't locate one, so I was dissappointed, but she came to Fargo with others, and I wanted to see her and tell her but it cost way more than we had at the time to visit with her. But I don't mind at all because I have her book and I will always adore her.

Just A quick and pleasant "Hello" to members past and present. I have been a longtime Lawrence Welk fan since I was small kid back in the 1980s, and have several albums in my collection from several key stages of his career, particularly the Dot, Ranwood, and Coral albums, which coincide with the years that he had his TV show. I plan to post several record album reviews here, from the Welk band and famous Welk alumni like the Lennon Sisters and Tom Netherton. Glad to have a forum to share my Welk knowledge with.
Hope all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving yesterday.
Looking forward to getting to know all of you.
